Does this sign make my bleachers look fat?

You’ve probably all heard about it… but have you had a chance to see it yet? I’m talking about the much-talked-about TOYOTA sign now lording over Wrigley Field.

Fine. The franchise needs to generate money to keep this lovely park on the map and in the black. And these photos pretty clearly illustrate that it won’t go unnoticed, inside OR… out of the ballpark.

But what about the missed opportunity here? The TOYOTA logo is perfectly symmetrical and thus — able to be read successfully from the front or back. So why construct supports that screw that up? Baseball season is finite… but the view from outside runs all year long.

The nips and tucks at Wrigley Field are almost complete.

As you can see from the previous post, scaffolding is coming down to reveal the refurbished scoreboard (as photographed from hanging out my front window!) Just a few more days until the first PLAY BALL rings out!

If you didn’t drink your green beer at Murphy’s Bleachers this St. Patrick’s Day, you may have missed seeing all of the nips and tucks underway at Wrigley Field. The new owners have been busy making some much-needed updates to many less-than-attractive stadium highlights — including the exterior of the historic scoreboard. New background panels are going up (behind scaffolding), with the bright red CHICAGO CUBS neon due back in time for the new season to get underway!
